About Us

It all started around 1996 (if you include BMX racing, dirt bikes, Camaro's and Snowmobiles - pretty much since I stood up). Out in our Jeeps with some friends we were talking about the fact there were no print magazines for 4x4s in Canada, we had moved to Jeeps as most of us were racking up speeding tickets in our Camaro's, Mustangs and Javelins. It stuck with me and I said hell, I'll start one! The fact that 90% of magazines fail in the first year didn't discourage me and in 1998 Canadian Four Wheel Drive magazine was launched onto the newsstands, soon to be 4WD magazine then sold onto new owners in 2010 and carries on today under a new name. My first magazine was followed by Northern Customs and Rods, following through on my love of cars. Once out of the print game I dove into web and E-zine/web format magazines with 4by4tech - now moved on to new owners as well. Besides my direct to consumer efforts, my automotive articles have appeared in a wide array of magazines, company web sites and blogs. I've ridden enduro bikes, snowmobiles - and just about anything else with an engine. I guess you can say I'm a car guy, and that will carry on here with Today's Performance, just stuff that gets my own motor running in all formats! - Enjoy!
